Go Tell the Bees That I am Gone

By Diana Gabaldon

“The past may seem the safest place to be…but it is the most dangerous time to be alive…..”

This is the ninth book in the Outlander series where Claire Randall (who has travelled back in time 200 years) and her husband Jamie Fraser are now living in North Carolina in 1779 and the American Revolution is looming.  Claire and Jamie’s daughter Briana and her husband Roger have also time travelled from the future and are living near them.  The book details daily trials of life in the 1800’s and also deals with how they try to prepare for a future when they know what is coming.  There is extensive detail regarding activities from this time and how the English (Loyalists) and American rebels deal with living near each other, with the beginnings of small skirmishes in the area and rising tensions.  There are descriptions of life in Charles Town (Charleston) and Savannah for both the Loyalists and the American rebels.

If you like historical fiction you will likely find this book riveting – but you should start with the first book in the series, “Outlander,” – which begins with Claire in Scotland in the 1945.
